Consider coming in early and staying late.

Ideas for local eateries of all sorts--some seafood varieties are:
Don's Seafood/Steak is just a hop skip and a jump the hotel.

Eat on the Deck at Middendorf's in Akers, LA (15 miles away)

Or partake of the local attractions like:
Trip to New Orleans before or after Joint Summit.

Global Wildlife Center.  Your basically tour the park in a wagon and the wildlife (giraffes, zebras over 4000 animals) will come up to be fed and yes, you can purchase food there.

Klieberts Alligator and Turtle Farm.  An hour long one-of-a-kind walking tour (handicapped accessible) takes you on a guided path through the world's first and largest Alligator farm in the world!
