Support Staff

The Regional Support Staff (RSS) is designed to aid and assist the Regional Executive Committee by offering and applying the services of their positions. RSS members serve as advisory members of the Region Three Staff and are available to all of the members of Region Three.

RSS positions are open to active STARFLEET members within Region Three. Being a RSS member does not exclude anyone from serving their chapter in any capacity; no conflict of interests are intended or anticipated. RSS members are appointed as specified under their position's description below. Resumes may be submitted for applicable RSS positions when a position becomes available.

Deputy Chief of Staff

The Deputy Chief of Staff (DCoS) will serve as an assistant to the Chief of Staff (CoS) and will be responsible for coordinating the activities of the Regional Support Staff. The DCoS will receive monthly reports, as needed from the RAC, RCC, RJA, RQM, RSFO, and RSPO. The DCoS will compile these reports and provide the CoS with a synopsis, as needed. The DCoS is also responsible for assisting the Chief of Staff in the direction of committees, task forces, boards and departments assigned by the Regional Coordinator.

The Deputy Chief of Staff is appointed by the Chief of Staff and will report as needed.

Regional Awards Coordinator

The Regional Awards Coordinator (RAC) is responsible for the maintenance of the Region Three Awards Program and will serve as the Region’s Awards Coordinator for the STARFLEET International Awards Program. The RAC will receive the recommendations for both the Region Three and the International Awards Program and will prepare reports for the Regional Coordinator. Commanding Officers’ recommendations should be sent to the RAC.

Upon request, the RAC may also aid and assist chapters with the development of their own awards program.

The Regional Awards Coordinator is appointed by the Regional Coordinator and will report to the Deputy Chief of Staff as needed.

Regional Counselor

The Regional Counselor (RCU) is the Region's focal point to help bring together members in the Region who share similar interests and will be available to aid and assist individual Counselors on chapters in the Region. The RCU will, if needed and requested, serve as a mediator and help resolve any disputes that might come about on a regional level. The RCU will serve as a sounding board for the Regional Coordinator and other members of the Region Three Staff. The RCU can also serve as a listener for any problems regional members may have.

The Regional Counselor is appointed by the Regional Coordinator and will report as needed.

Regional Financial Officer

The Regional Financial Officer (RFO) is responsible for creating and maintaining a record of the financial transactions of the Region and shall submit timely reports to the Regional Coordinator as requested. The RFO is responsible for preparing a bimonthly report on the current fiscal state of the Region for submission to the Regional Newsletter.

The Regional Financial Officer is appointed by the Regional Coordinator and will report to the Deputy Chief of Staff as needed.

Regional Judge Advocate

The Regional Judge Advocate (RJA) is the advisor to the region on any legal matters that pertain to STARFLEET, Region Three, Region Three chapters, and the members in the Region. The RJA will serve as a legal advisor to the Regional Coordinator and members of the Region Three Staff. Upon request, the RJA will be available to aid and assist any individual chapter's Commanding Officer and their members on Region Three or Chapter related matters. The RJA can review a chapter's constitution or general orders so to eliminate any conflict or discrepancy with any established Region Three or STARFLEET regulations. Should a need arise, the RJA may appoint a legal staff to aid and assist them.

The Regional Judge Advocate is appointed by the Regional Coordinator and will report to the Deputy Chief of Staff as needed.

Regional Quartermaster

The Regional Quartermaster (RQM) is responsible for the coordination and promotion of Region Three fund raisers and is also responsible for the selling of any Region Three merchandise. The RQM will work with, and may serve as an assistant to, the Chief of Operations when deemed appropriate or needed. Upon request, the RQM will be available to aid and assist any chapter with fund raising events. Deputies may be appointed as needed.

The Regional Quartermaster is appointed by the Regional Coordinator and will report to the Deputy Chief of Staff as needed.

Regional Special Forces Officer

The Regional Special Forces Officer (RSFO) shall serve as the liaison between Region Three and any of the Special Forces organizations in STARFLEET. These organizations include, but are not limited to, the STARFLEET Marines, Rangers, Legionaires and S.E.A.L.s.

The RSFO is required to be an active member of one of these organizations in order to serve in this position. The RSFO may appoint deputies to help represent these special forces organizations, as needed.

The Regional Special Forces Officer is appointed by the Regional Coordinator and will report to the Deputy Chief of Staff as needed.

Regional Special Projects Officer

The Regional Special Projects Officer (RSPO) shall serve as a liaison between Region Three and the Directors of Special Projects within STARFLEET. These projects include, but are not limited to, the STARFLEET Challenge of the Heart, the Overseas Coupon Project, and STARFLEET Stampede. The RSPO needs to be an active member of the region and an active participant in one of STARFLEET's Special Projects in order to serve in this position.

Deputies may be appointed to help with each of the projects, as needed.

The Regional Special Projects Officer is appointed by the Regional Coordinator and will report to the Deputy Chief of Staff as needed.

Regional Youth Services Director

The Regional Youth Services Director (RYD) is in charge of the Region Three Cadet Corps and is responsible for the creation and maintenance of a program in Region Three that encourages the growth and participation of the Region’s youth. The RYD will set forth standards and requirements for advancement of the Region Three Cadet Program, and will support the individual chapters in the administration of said program. The RYD shall use any and all available resources, including any STARFLEET Cadet Programs, in the implementation of this criteria.

The Regional Youth Services Director is appointed by the Regional Coordinator and will report to the Deputy Chief of Staff as needed.

Special Advisors

Special Advisors (SA) are members of Region Three who, at some point in their career, have held either a Regional or STARFLEET level position. The position of Special Advisor is designed for, but not limited to, retired Regional Coordinators (RCs) who are willing to offer advice and guidance to the Region. Special Advisors are recognized as vital assets to the Region, the Region Three Staff and the Regional Coordinator.

Special Advisors are appointed by the Region Coordinator based on their expertise, wealth of experience, and willingness to contribute to the Region.

Regional Vessel Adjutant

Regional Vessel Adjutants (RVA) are responsible for forwarding any suggestions or requests of their chapter to the appropriate member(s) of the Region Three Staff. The RVA's responsibilities also include the distribution of any information received from the Region Three Staff to their chapter, and submitting a column for their chapter to the Region's Newsletter, Fleet Channels. It is also incumbent of the RVAs to suggest and promote chapter participation in Region Three activities whenever possible.

On each chapter in the region, a RVA can be selected to represent the interests of the chapter to the Region. The RVA is appointed by the chapter’s Command Staff, with input from both the Regional Coordinator and the chapter’s Vice Regional Coordinator. The RVA will serve as one of the primary communications line between the chapter and the Regional Three Staff.

Each RVA will aid both the Regional Coordinator and Vice Regional Coordinator, as needed.

An RVA needs to be a current STARFLEET member other than the chapter’s CO or XO, an OTS graduate, and an active member of the chapter they will be representing. The term length for a RVA is decided upon by the Senior Officers of their chapter; a term of no less than one (1) year is suggested.

Sector Leaders

Sector Leaders (SL) are assistants to their quadrant's Vice Regional Coordinator (VRC) and are responsible for the coordination of both inter-sector activities and the holding of sector meetings for the chapters within that sector. A SL may be appointed, as needed, by their quadrant's VRC. Sector Leaders need to work with and utilize the Region Three Members within their sector as a part of their staff.

Sector Leaders serve as a part of their VRC's staff and shall aid and assist them in the running of their quadrant. Sector Leader's need to be current STARFLEET members, OTS and OCC graduates, and active in the sector they represent. The term for an SL is decided upon by their VRC, a term of no less than one (1) year is suggested.

Sector Leaders are appointed by the Vice Regional Coordinator for their quadrant and will report as needed.
