Chapters are encouraged to develop their own Awards Program. The Region 3 and STARFLEET Awards Programs are designed to supplement and complement chapter awards and are not meant, nor should be construed in any manner, to replace or negate those awards. Chapters that need assistant when developing their own Awards Program may contact the Region 3 Chief Administration Officer.
The Region 3 Awards were developed to recognize individuals, chapters and others associated with STARFLEET the International Star Trek Fan Association for outstanding and meritorious service to others and the ideas of Star Trek.
Awards are given, when appropriate, by the Region 3 Coordinator and the Region 3 Awards Coordinator, upon recommendation of a chapter's Commanding Officer and/or the Reporting Officer. While any STARFLEET member may nominate any one for any award, the recommendation must come through the chapter's Commanding Officer and/or Reporting Officer. This list is provided in order to acquaint members with the awards, purpose and official decorations. All recipients will receive the proper uniform insignia and certificate of achievement signed by the Region 3 Coordinator, Region 3 Awards Coordinator and in some instances, by the Region 3 Division Chief of their appropriate department. The Awards are listed later on, in ascending order.
Guidelines and Criteria
Submissions shall follow the guidelines as outlined on the Region 3 Awards Submission Form. Any member of Region 3 may be submitted for any award, provided they meet all of the requirements of said award. However, only one submission per form will be accepted. All submissions not entered via the Region 3 Awards Submission Form should be typed or computer generated whenever possible. Illegible submissions will be returned.
- Nominations may be submitted for activities that occurred within the past six (6) months of the current calendar year, except for the "of the Year" awards, which need to cover the previous calendar year. If a series of activities is the basis for the nomination, the most recent activity should have occurred within that time frame.
- Nominations may be submitted for any Region 3 member in good standing by any other Region 3 member.
- A Region 3 member may not nominate him or herself.
All annual Region 3 Awards shall be presented at the Region 3 Summit. Members who receive an Annual Region 3 Award will be submitted for the corresponding International Award (if one exists).
